LOVE YOUR STYLE: KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN

Love, love, LOVE Kourtney's looks! Obviously if you are like me and watched her on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" then on "Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami" you'll notice that motherhood definitely changed her style. Goodbye tight clothes and boob exposure, hello romantic, sophisticated attire. It's casual yet sexy and sometimes even budget friendly. In two of the pictures (Striped skirt and belted dress) they are both looks from H&M. Of course she styled it with a few more expensive accessories like Louboutions and a Prada belt, but overall managed to pull off one amazing outfit after another.
My favorite accessory she always wear is by far the Cartier "Love" bracelet and ring. Very simple gold bands that look good with any outfit and she never seems to leave home without them.

TONY AWARDS

MY PICK FOR BEST DRESSED AT THE TONYS
My pick for best dressed at the Tony's ended in a tie between Scarlett Johansson and Naomi Watts. What I loved about both women's appearances last night was that with such exquisite designer dresses, they didn't overshadow them with tons of accessories. Scarlett (in a sparkling Elie Saab) kept it simple with only a pair of diamond earrings (and Ryan Reynolds next to her) and Naomi (in Marchesa) had no accessories and barely there makeup on which suited her look perfectly.
It just comes to show that you don't need a ton of glitz and glam on you at one time to look flawless and fabulous!

Good Day All!!

Have an email here from Denise in Queens who writes:

Maria,

I got these shoes last year and I never wore them. They are Christian Louboutin metallic blue booties. They are insane and I love them! But, I am short, and booties can be tough to pull off... not to mention the metallic peacock blue color lol! What do you think I can wear with them that will not make me look shorter than I am and work with the color? Thanks for your help!

Well Denise, the color and type of shoe are quite the challenge. Let’s start first with the shoe itself. Booties fall into the same category as ankle strap heels; they fall into a danger zone with short people because they cut off your height making your appearance shorter than you already are. The best solution: make your hemline shorter. The shorter your skirt the longer your legs will look especially with these booties. Wearing a skirt to your knees or a pair of carpi's is only going to make you smaller. Plus, having a unique pair of shoes like these on your feet, you want people to notice them and with more leg showing, you'll get just that.

As for the color: stick with solids. This metallic blue color would go great with a short black dress, jumpsuit or romper. White, tan, and grey would match as well. Also, don't be afraid to wear jeans with these shoes. Any dark pair of straight leg jeans would look great too, but stick with a solid top. Below are a couple of ideas to go along with your booties Denise! Hope you find
this helpful!

An email just arrived from Lisa in Brooklyn who sent me this photo of a lovely, colorful French Connection dress she recently purchased. She tells me that she has reached a bit of a stand still when it comes to choosing a pair of shoes to go with her dress. Of course a plain old pair of ballerina flats will do the trick here Lisa, but its summer and it would be a good idea to explore your options a bit more. My suggestion: metallic gladiator sandals. A dress such as this with a lot of bright colors, needs not be dull and the same goes with what you put on your feet. These sandals are one of the hottest summer looks to hit the street. Gladiators come in an array of designs I might add. Some having thicker or thinner straps or higher or lower heights meaning some fall below the ankle and some can even reach as high as the middle of ones calf!

Whats so great about these warrior-esque shoes is they provide a causal/chic look to your summer wardrobe selection. Great with dresses (like above), boyfriend jeans or shorts, they add an extra shine to your already glowing summer look.

BOUTIQUE 9 PROMISES SANDAL: $129.95 (Nordstrom)

OLD NAVY GLADIATOR SANDALS $19.50

Christina from Nyack sent in a picture and writes:

Maria,

During an impulse shopping spree, I bought this studded, almost Rockstar blazer. I have only worn it a few times, but I always have problems finding the right accessories to wear with it. I don't know if I should go chunky or simple?

Christina

Christina,

I definitely think that you should wear this blazer more than once cause it would look fabulous with a great pair of black shiny leggings or an awesome bando black dress. I understand where your dilemma comes from with the jewelry. Due to the fact that the top of the jacket is studded, you don't want to take away from that. You want people to notice the shoulders because it is what makes the jacket so unique. I would avoid wearing any chunky necklaces with this piece. You don't want to much hardware at the top because between a necklace and the silver studs, you will end up looking less fashionable and more like the Tin Man. If you want to wear something go for it on your arm. Roll up your sleeves and slap on some silver bangles or an amazing beaded cuff. Slipping a chunky cocktail ring on your pointer finger will also do the job. Here are a few ideas below you can pick up at your local mall or boutique. Happy shopping!

SPLURGE: ABS BY ALLEN SCHWARTZ MULTI CHAIN CUFF BRACELET $125.00

STEAL: FOREVER 21 FLOWER BEADED BRACELET $10.80
